One of my favorite celebrities is Alicia Silverstone. The "Clueless" actress is not just about fame and beauty( well a quirky kind of prettiness), she is also known for being an animal rights and environmental activist. Her house in LA is an eco- friendly home. In an interview with
InStyle Magazine , Silverstone opened up about the steps she took in make her living area more green.‘I love living this way,’ Alicia tells the mag. ‘It’s so satisfying and inspiring.’ The actress, shares her L.A. home with musician hubby Christopher Jarecki, has long campaigned to save the environment, and she’s found inventive ways to be green-conscious at home, whether it’s using energy-saving appliances, putting solar panels on the roof, or even recycling the flooring from an old bowling alley to make her table top.”
"Everything we've brought into this house is environmentally sound," declares the actress. With the recent installation of a well-engineered heating and cooling system, her home now draws half as much power from the grid as it used to.
The home was decorated by L.A. designer Sasha Emerson who is known for her playful and free-spirited work. Her signature style has been incorporated in Alicia's home with a mix of modern and vintage furnishings, colorful textiles and bold use of eccentric art and accessories, give her designs a distinctive sense of whimsy.
